Ring, Ring, Ring… For my trip to meet Shea in DC my alarm rang at 2.45 am! Wait a minute?! Yes, you read that correctly. I woke up at 2.45 am in the morning. I called my cab for 3.30 am the day before, to take me to the airport and I had to get ready and all. I aimed to go to bed earlier that evening but, of course, it didn’t work. I am a late packer and therefore had to pack all of my stuff. I barely got three hours of sleep that night. WEITERLESEN… »
Monatliches Archiv für: Dezember, 2014
As December approaches, my finals are closing in and my plans to go to DC are being finalized. I will fly out of Chicago on December 23rd, at 6.00 am and I will come back on the 27th in the evening. I’m pretty excited for all the upcoming things. Celebrating Christmas is important to me, because you can be with family and friends. Unfortunately I don’t get do be with my family this year, but being with Shea will make up for it!
Chanukah starts on the 16th of December this year and Leah, Aidan and Carly are all pretty excited. I still don’t have a clue as to what I want to give them as a gift, but I will figure it out soon enough. Carly already told me that they have my present and so there is even more pressure.
My Mum sent me a specialized advent calendar. We have this tradition that we do this for each other and I’m glad I got one from her this year. Thank you!! Something else arrived a couple of days ago. My birthday present. It sucks that I can’t open it right away, but I promised that I would open it on my birthday. So I will stick to that. At least my birthday is only about six days away!!
I know it’s a big difference to read my posts in English now, but I think it is a good decision. Not only do I have potential readers who simply don’t understand German, but I also want to practice my English further. Especially since I’m gonna be going back to college next year. I still can’t believe it.
It will probably be a huge adjustment, but also a great experience. Some of you might know I’m not the most patient person when it comes to stuff like waiting for something. Since I sent out my application I was trying really hard not to be impatient. I mean it could take a while to find some colleges who actually want to educate me. After my lazy butt didn’t do its best in High School, I have to suffer the consequences now. But this has already changed!
So I was particularly excited when I woke up one Thursday and had the offers in my account. I will not go in the details about all the colleges. But I will tell you about my two choices. Yes, I had to make a first and a second choice. It is not very likely that I will need the second choice but who knows. The only chance, that I won’t get into my first choice is, when I don’t make the score in the upcoming TOEFL test (79). The TOEFL test is only about a 1.5 weeks away, on December 6th!
My first choice of university is located in Dahlonega, Georgia: the North Georgia University. It is an average size college with about 15,000 students. It is a combination of four campuses focused on academic excellence. The college also hosts military recruits who, while getting a degree, also train for the military. So there will be a lot of people walking around in uniform. I also talked with a girl who is already enrolled at UNG. The college does not have a football team, but they have a volleyball team, a baseball, and soccer and basketball team. They also offer programs for track runners (yikes!).
My second choice is in Utah. Very cold or very warm, the temperatures can spike to extremes from one day to another. This college has indeed a football team and offers gymnastics.
Both colleges offer the major that I want to take: Business / Management. As a minor I want to take Marketing and specialize my knowledge.
Both regions are very nice and have various opportunities outside of college, such as hiking and any other outdoor activity you can think of.
Right now I’m in the admissions process, which means, we have to send in a bunch of papers, like my international application for UNG, bank statements, etc. And of course, as soon as I have the TOEFL result, I have to send that in as well.
I will keep you posted!
