College – West Coast or the South?

I know it’s a big difference to read my posts in English now, but I think it is a good decision. Not only do I have potential readers who simply don’t understand German, but I also want to practice my English further. Especially since I’m gonna be going back to college next year. I still can’t believe it.

It will probably be a huge adjustment, but also a great experience. Some of you might know I’m not the most patient person when it comes to stuff like waiting for something. Since I sent out my application I was trying really hard not to be impatient. I mean it could take a while to find some colleges who actually want to educate me. After my lazy butt didn’t do its best in High School, I have to suffer the consequences now. But this has already changed!

So I was particularly excited when I woke up one Thursday and had the offers in my account. I will not go in the details about all the colleges. But I will tell you about my two choices. Yes, I had to make a first and a second choice. It is not very likely that I will need the second choice but who knows. The only chance, that I won’t get into my first choice is, when I don’t make the score in the upcoming TOEFL test (79). The TOEFL test is only about a 1.5 weeks away, on December 6th!

Dahlonega-campus-promenadeMy first choice of university is located in Dahlonega, Georgia: the North Georgia University. It is an average size college with about 15,000 students. It is a combination of four campuses focused on academic excellence. The college also hosts military recruits who, while getting a degree, also train for the military. So there will be a lot of people walking around in uniform. I also talked with a girl who is already enrolled at UNG. The college does not have a football team, but they have a volleyball team, a baseball, and soccer and basketball team. They also offer programs for track runners (yikes!).

Southern_Utah_University_2My second choice is in Utah. Very cold or very warm, the temperatures can spike to extremes from one day to another. This college has indeed a football team and offers gymnastics.
Both colleges offer the major that I want to take: Business / Management. As a minor I want to take Marketing and specialize my knowledge.
Both regions are very nice and have various opportunities outside of college, such as hiking and any other outdoor activity you can think of.

Right now I’m in the admissions process, which means, we have to send in a bunch of papers, like my international application for UNG, bank statements, etc. And of course, as soon as I have the TOEFL result, I have to send that in as well.

I will keep you posted!

xoxo Ani
